UWG’s Online Graduate Education Program Ranked Among Best in Nation

UWG’s Online Graduate Education Program Ranked Among Best in NationThe University of West Georgia placed 75th in the nation for online graduate education programs according to the 2015 ranking of online programs by U.S. News and World Report. The placement is based on factors such as accreditation, admissions selectivity, and academic and career support services offered to students.

“The number of online programs nationwide, especially in education, has exploded over the last decade,” said Dean of the College of Education Dr. Dianne Hoff. “For the College of Education to rank in the top 75 in the nation is truly a distinction and honor. We continue to put resources toward ensuring that our online programs are rigorous, innovative, and forward-looking.”

U.S. News analyzed more than 1,200 programs to identify the best online programs in bachelor's, MBA and graduate business, graduate education, graduate engineering, graduate information technology, and graduate nursing degrees. UWG’s graduate education program is up 14 spots from last year’s position in 89th place.

“Our rise in ranking is the direct result of our systemic initiative to provide the best possible experience for our students in the most accessible ways,” said Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Education Technologies and Foundations Dr. Stephen C. Bronack. “The fact that students are succeeding and enjoying their time in our online courses is a testament to the skill and commitment of our faculty, and to the facilitative environment our administration has created.”

The U.S. News & World Report placement is based on factors such as accreditation, admissions selectivity, and academic and career support services offered to students.

In addition to traditional graduate degrees, UWG’s College of Education offers the following programs online: M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education, M.Ed. in Media (Instructional Technology or School Library Media), M.Ed. in Reading Instruction, Ed.S. in Media (Instructional Technology or School Library Media), Ed.S. in Special Education, Ed.D. in School Improvement and Ed.D. in Professional Counseling and Supervision. It is among the Southeast’s largest and most respected sources of education professionals in all fields.
