Jamie Bennett, Pre-Award Coordinator for the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects Jamie Bennett, pre-award coordinator for the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects, returned West in October 2014 after seven years in government administration. At the University of West Georgia, it is her responsibility to assist in finding grant opportunities to promote projects that facilitate student growth and faculty achievement.

Jamie graduated from UWG with her bachelor’s degree in mass communications in 1998. Her career began in broadcasting as a general assignment reporter. After that, her jobs ran the gamut from juvenile probation officer to high school teacher.

“My journalist background kept me on the move, seeking new adventures and opportunities, which allowed me to explore several professions,” she shared.

Jamie, who is currently enrolled as a graduate student at UWG and is working on her M.Ed. in mental health counseling, has been most recently recognized by Georgia Trend as one of the top 40 under 40 in Georgia. The same year she was honored with a Top Ten Young Professionals award from the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce.

Through it all, she is glad that all roads have led back West.

“I am thrilled to back at UWG where I spent some of the best years of my life,” she concluded. “It is an honor to work for an institution that helped pave the way to bring me back here today.”
