Ashley JonesAshley Jones Went West as a student years ago and returned as government and external relations/special assistant to the president in January of this year, just prior to the start of the 2014 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.

Ashley began her political work on local campaigns as a manager and fundraiser while attending the University of West Georgia. During her education here, she also served as a legislative aide to the House Appropriations Committee throughout the legislative session. Those duties, including political consulting, continued after graduation.

“The existing relationships developed through my years of experience have given me the tools necessary to be an effective advocate on day one for the priorities of our new president, UWG and the University System of Georgia,” she shares.

Ashley says she is proud of UWG and the improvements, growth and success it has made. She is also thrilled to have arrived under the new leadership of Dr. Kyle Marrero and is proud to be a part of the direction the university is heading.

“At UWG, you are not just a number. You are more than just a student, a staff member, or a faculty member … you become a part of a family, the community, and a member of the team,” she concludes. “UWG is significant in that we are large enough to offer you the degree you are looking for and still small enough to have a family and hometown feel. I am excited for this new journey and to be a part of the team at my alma mater.”
