Paul Sargent, Assistant Director of Graduate and International Admissions

Paul Sargent, Assistant Director of Graduate and International AdmissionsPaul Sargent started the new year in his position as the assistant director of graduate and international admissions for the University of West Georgia after spending six years with a United Kingdom-based business school. At UWG, he promotes the university to international students around the world and ensures that policies and procedures guarantee the initiative’s success.

The Erie, Pennsylvania native has a bachelor’s degree in international business and business administration from Thiel College and is in the dissertation stage of an MBA in International Business from London Metropolitan University. He has also completed one semester toward an M.Ed. at Tiffin University in Ohio, and he hopes to finish out the degree at Georgia Southern University.

What attracted him to UWG were the opportunities to expand international recruitment and to tackle the challenges the university faces in regards to international recruitment, including the rural location and tougher-than-average policies.

“I hope that I can solve these issues that hinder recruitment and bring a bit of diversity to the campus,” Paul shared. “Not only is an American education valuable to international students, but it also helps the domestic students experience other cultures, which is growing in importance, due to the globalization of the modern economy.”
