UWG Welcomes American Idol Winner Kris Allen

In promotion of his concert at Mill Town Music Hall in Bremen on Friday, January 30, Kris Allen visited the University of West Georgia for a CD signing. The “Live Like We’re Dying” singer walked into the university bookstore with a smile as his adoring fans warmly welcomed him. The American Idol winner was more than happy to converse, sign autographs, give hugs, and take pictures.

UWG Welcomes American Idol Winner Kris Allen For over a decade American Idol has graced the televisions of millions of households. From the entertaining audition episodes to the nerve-racking announcement of who the next American Idol will be, the series has left a memorable mark on primetime television. The concept of the show is simple: viewers cast their votes on their favorite contestants based on their weekly live performances. Idol has been a platform for aspiring singers to live out their dreams of superstardom.

Kris was one of the hopeful contestants who went on to claim the title of American Idol. Hailing from Jacksonville, Arkansas, the 29-year-old won the eighth season of the show in 2009. His unique way of performing classic songs while adding his own pop-rock twist won over the hearts of many viewers. Upon his win, Kris went on to release his self-titled debut album. Since then he has released two follow up albums, Thank You Camellia (2012) and Horizons (2014), which was released independently through his own record label, DogBear Records.
