UWG’s Health Services and Human Resources Department present the 2013 Wolf Wellness Expo, an annual University of West Georgia health education fest. The event will take place on Friday, September 13, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Campus Center Ballroom.

"The Wolf Wellness initiative is based upon the six dimension model for balancing the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, occupational and spiritual links of well-being,” says Elizabeth Butts, UWG’s Health and Wellness promotions coordinator. “At UWG wellness is a collaborative effort to help students as well as faculty and staff with the BOR Human Resources grant to connect with existing campus resources and to gain support within the community for personal well-being.”

A host of events have been planned for participants at the Expo including blood pressure, weight and body fat screenings as well as waist circumference measurement and nutrition and dietary consultations with certified professionals. Students, faculty and staff can register to participate in the Wolf Weight Loss Challenge and those unable to attend the Expo can sign up from September 16 - 18 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the Library Alcove near Starbucks.

“Along with 'Going West,' we want students to be well, stay well and do well and for the faculty and staff to work well,” says Liz.

In addition, the Aramark head chef will present healthy dining tips at 11:00 a.m., noon and 1:00 p.m. There will be open group exercise classes, including a Zumba mini-thon on the Campus Center patio from noon until 12:45 p.m. Peer educators and student organizations with information on alcohol use, sexual health, sleep stress and general wellness will be on hand at the event, along with various Carrollton community health services providers. Freebies such as t-shirts, healthy food and snacks, as well as invaluable information will be provided for attendees.
