Fall Commencement Ceremonies Set for Saturday

The University of West Georgia's fall commencement ceremonies will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 9 a.m. in UWG's Coliseum. The ceremony will also be streamed online at www.westga.edu/commencement.php. Dennis McEntire will be the speaker.

Fall Commencement Ceremonies Set for Saturday Dennis serves as the general manager of Newnan Utilities, a municipal water and light utility with over a century long history of providing outstanding service to the residents of Newnan and Coweta County. In this role, he is responsible for the management of all organizational departments including electrical and water operations, public relations, finance, and engineering.

Dennis has been an active leader in the Newnan-Coweta community since moving with Georgia Power to Newnan in 1986. He has served with numerous organizations, including past president of the Newnan Rotary Club, West Georgia Technical College Board of Directors, and the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board. He is also the immediate past chairman of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce and remains an active member today. He currently serves as chair of Communities in Schools of Coweta County and on several other boards, including the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Regional Business Coalition.

His most recent local activities include serving on the boards of Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and The Heritage School in Newnan.

He is a past recipient of Citizen of the Year for Coweta County and the 2011 Honoree for the Golden Eagle dinner for the Flint River Council Boy Scouts of America. He is a proud servant of the community and encourages Newnan Utilities’ employees and others to do their part in contributing in their own way to the betterment of the community.

Dennis received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He resides in Newnan with his wife, Sally Waters McEntire. They have two children, Elizabeth Williams and Clay McEntire and two grandchildren.
