In its ongoing commitment to reach out to the community, the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management team of the University of West Georgia recently donated canned goods and toiletry items to the Carroll County Emergency Shelter.

The UWG employees collected and delivered the items to the Carroll County Emergency Shelter Administrator Martha Boyce during their annual SAEM Divisional Holiday Celebration.

“I am very pleased that our Divisional Social Committee decided to include the food drive effort as part of our annual holiday event,” explained UWG Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Dr. Scot Lingrell. “It shows the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management division's commitment to giving back to our Carrollton community and meeting the challenge of creating beneficial partnerships in the local area.”

The mission of the non-profit Carroll County Emergency Shelter is to provide direct short-term shelter, counseling, assistance, and support services to homeless and victims of sexual, child, spousal, and domestic abuse. For more information on the shelter, please call 770-834-1141.

Dr. Lingrell added, “We are finding creative and fun ways of living two of our Divisional Core Values of Caring and Collaboration.”
