UWG Receives Third National Telly Award for “Go West” Campaign

by Taylor Bryant

The University of West Georgia’s Office of University Communications and Marketing was recently awarded its third national Telly award. This year, UWG was awarded a bronze Telly in the Local TV Campaign Not-for-Profit category for the “Go West” television campaign.

UWG Receives Third National Telly Award for “Go West” Campaign“For UWG to continue to be recognized for the quality of the ‘Go West’ television campaign is a testament to the sustainability of this powerful creative concept birthed by agency partner Mindpower,” said Jami Bower, associate vice president for University Communications and Marketing. “In the communications business, we say that the concepts that continue to be relevant and produce results 'have legs.' We believe that Go West is continuing to stretch its legs and expand its impact.”

The UWG television campaign features two branding/recruiting spots, Explore Ideas and Break New Ground, that are infused with a sense of exploration, movement, and momentum, and a bit of aspiration. The spots strive to inform prospective students, parents, and influencers of the opportunities for transformation at UWG and to create a sense of pride and excitement in faculty, staff, students, alumni, and supporters. This Go West campaign combines the abstract theme of a journey with concrete campus scenes featuring UWG faculty, staff, and student success in research and discovery and other engaging campus activities.

The Telly Awards are the premier award honoring the finest film and video productions, groundbreaking web commercials, and outstanding local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs. The widely known and highly respected competition draws more than 13,000 entries annually from 50 states and five continents.

This award comes on the heels of UWG receiving a merit award from the Higher Education Marketing 31st Annual Educational Advertising Awards for the 2015 Go West total advertising campaign.
