UWG Celebrates Veteran's Day with a Breakfast of Appreciation

UWG senior Tim Mobley, Marine, and junior Lauren Cheatwood, Air Force, enjoy a Veterans Day breakfast in their honor.

To celebrate those who have served our country and protected the United States as a free nation, the University of West Georgia’s Center for Adult Learners and Veterans held a Veterans Day breakfast on November 11. During the breakfast, veteran students were served an array of French toast, hash browns, sausage, and more as a humble appreciation to the men and women who serve in our nation’s military.

“We are here to serve those who serve,” said UWG Veterans Affairs certification official, Judith Horne.

“What we get from the people, the gratitude, is unbelievable,” said Tim Mobley, a UWG senior Marine. “People tell me 'thank you for your service,’ and I tell them ‘thank you for allowing me to serve.’”

During the breakfast, men and women in attendance showed their support for the troops overseas by signing cards to those serving during the upcoming holidays. UWG is proud of the military, both active and retired, and strive to assist in any way possible. UWG students, faculty, and staff sincerely thank our veterans and active military for their past, present, and future service. They make our country and this community strong and proud.

If you see a veteran today, remember to thank them for their service. Think about where we are as a nation because of the brave men and women who fight for our freedom daily. UWG is proud to be a part of such a wonderful community of veteran and civilian students who appreciate one another.
