West Georgia Named Top Seed in Super Region 2

Nearly two years ago, the University of West Georgia named Will Hall as the head coach of the UWG football program. On Sunday afternoon, following the conclusion of his second season at the helm, Hall's Wolves were named the top seed in Super Region 2 heading into the 2015 NCAA Division II Playoffs, ensuring a bye in the first round. University Stadium will be the host site for the second round of the playoffs on November 28.

West Georgia Named Top Seed in Super Region 2 Both feats are the first time in Division II history for West Georgia, as UWG has never hosted a playoff game and has never been the top seed heading into the playoffs. The Wolves concluded a 10-1 regular season on Saturday afternoon at University Stadium, taking down GSC opponent Shorter to secure the first Gulf South Conference championship at UWG since the 2000 season.

"We are proud of Coach Hall, his coaching staff, and the entire football team for their hard work and determination to become the No.1 seed while balancing their academic success with their athletic commitment," said UWG President Kyle Marrero. "They have had an exemplary season so far, and I am confident that we will continue on this trajectory of success through the playoffs."

Joining West Georgia in the 2015 Playoffs as host sites will be North Alabama, Catawba, and Valdosta State. The Lions (8-2), a team that shared the GSC title with the Wolves this season, enter this year's tournament as the No. 2 seed and will host seventh-seeded Newberry (7-4) in the first round this Saturday. Catawba (9-2), the South Atlantic Conference champion, will be the third seed and host sixth-seeded Tuskegee (8-2) this weekend in the first round. Valdosta State (8-2), a team that finished the season with four straight victories, will host Carson-Newman (9-2) this weekend.

The Wolves will watch that game between Carson-Newman and Valdosta State closely, as West Georgia will host the winner of that contest on November 28 in University Stadium. For ticket information and more, visit UWG 2015 Playoff Central at uwgsports.com/playoffcentral.
