First Bear Toss Successful, Second Coming Saturday

by Matt Cooke

First Bear Toss Successful, Second Coming Saturday Thursday night featured a unique feature along with the UWG basketball games against Delta State, as UWG Athletics had its first Bear Toss during halftime of both of the men's games. The UWG fan base responded and the department collected nearly 50 stuffed bears at the first event.

The stuffed bears will be distributed to various organizations by Valentine's Day throughout the western Georgia area that provide assistance to children.

"We are thrilled with the response our fans had to lending a helping hand in the Bear Toss," said Senior Associate Athletic Director Eddie Duffey. "I cannot wait until Saturday afternoon to see if we can equal or better the number of bears on the floor."

The athletic department plans to offer the Bear Toss again at halftime of the women's and men's games on Saturday afternoon as the Wolves host Christian Brothers in Gulf South Conference action. The women's game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with the men's game set for approximately 4 p.m.
