Three Wolves Named WGCA All-American Scholars

The UWG women's golf team had three golfers named Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars this week as Jessica Danford, Taylor Sarratt, and Lola Uribe each earned the distinction for their excellent work in the classroom as well as on the course. It is the second-consecutive year that Lola Uribe has been named All-American Scholar by the WGCA.

Three Wolves Named WGCA All-American ScholarsAmong other criteria, this honor required a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA and played in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competitive matches. West Georgia had the second most named All-American Scholars in the Gulf South Conference behind Lee, who had four golfers named to the list. In total, the GSC had 10 golfers named All-American Scholars.

Danford, a sophomore from Longwood, Florida majoring in Speech Pathology, averaged 81.71 and played in all 10 events for the Wolves. She posted a low-round of 76 at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational, where she followed with a 78 in round two finishing in 13th place, her best finish of the season.

Taylor Sarratt played in seven tournaments this season for the Wolves, averaging 84.22 for the year. Her low round came in Savannah at the Pirate Women's Invitational where Sarratt shot a 77 in the second round. The junior from Statesboro, Ga. is majoring in mass communications.

Uribe, a two-time All-American Scholar averaged 79.13 on the year while competing in every round for UWG. Her scoring average is third on the team. Uribe had two top-ten finishes on the season including a seventh place finish at the Argonaut Invitational after rounds of 74, 73, and 85. Uribe is a sophomore from Seville, Spain and is majoring in economics. Uribe was also named to the GSC All-Academic Team along with teammate Stephanie Bennett.

The Wolves will open their new campaign this September at the Montevallo Invitational.
