Amy EllisonHome: Grew up in Carrollton, stayed for UWG!

Profession: First-year writing lecturer and graduate teaching internship coordinator for the English department

Recent Accomplishments: The Mid-American Review recently published her poem, "Parachuting in Osan, 1950." This is also her first full year coordinating graduate teaching interns. "I am excited to further develop the graduate teaching experience, both for the benefit of our own English classes as well as our GTIs' post-graduate plans."

In Her Words: "After attending UWG as an undergraduate and graduate student, I feel very lucky to be able to give back in service to the department that gave so much to me as a student. I love teaching British literature, creative writing, and a variety of 2000-level courses, but first-year writing will always be at the heart of what I do. The variety of topics we discuss in the classroom, as well as the freedom to teach multiple genres and subjects, allows me to bridge new students from high school into college while igniting enthusiasm and interest for writing and critical thinking. UWG encourages us to invest in our teaching and scholarship, and we in turn work to foster the same excitement for learning within our students."
