by Julie Lineback

The University of West Georgia’s College of Education placed 66th in the nation for online graduate education programs according to the 2016 ranking of online programs by U.S. News & World Report, up nine points from the 2015 ranking.

UWG’s Online Graduate Education Continues to Rise in Top 100 Best in Nation “We are so fortunate in the College of Education at the University of West Georgia that our rankings continue to climb and that enrollment has increased commensurate with these rankings,” said College of Education Dean Dr. Dianne Hoff. “I think this progress reflects an overall enthusiasm about the relevancy of our programs, our commitment to excellence, and a strong investment by faculty, staff, administrators, and our university president in the success of future educators.”

The list evaluated more than 12,000 online programs offered by nonprofit and for-profit institutions in the United States in categories of bachelor’s degrees and graduate-level programs in business, Master of Business Administration, education, engineering, nursing, criminal justice and computer information technology, and the top 145 are ranked in each category.

“Our steady and rapid ascension—from 101st in 2013 to 66th in 2016—is a testament to the dedication of our faculty and staff, and suggests the innovative approaches and experiences we are providing online really resonate with the learners we serve here in West Georgia, and beyond,” said Assistant Dean Dr. Stephen C. Bronack.

In addition to traditional graduate degrees, UWG’s College of Education offers the following programs online: M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education, M.Ed. in Media (Instructional Technology or School Library Media), M.Ed. in Reading Instruction, Ed.S. in Media (Instructional Technology or School Library Media), Ed.D. in School Improvement and Ed.D. in Professional Counseling and Supervision. It is among the Southeast’s largest and most respected sources of education professionals in all fields.
