Greg Buice, Assistant Manager of Food Production – East Commons

Greg Buice, Assistant Manager of Food Production – East CommonsWhen the University of West Georgia announced it was ending its contract with Aramark and would take over all dining services on campus, Greg Buice ’04 saw it as an opportunity to join the professional ranks of his alma mater as part of the new Dine West team.

“I couldn’t be happier to be returning to West Georgia,” he said.

Greg brings 20 years of food service experience to the table. While earning his bachelor’s degree in English, he acquired a taste for the industry working as a line cook at Applebee’s.

“Once I graduated, I was able to move up the managerial ranks and truly start my career,” he explained. “I have stayed in the restaurant industry for all these years because I genuinely love serving people.”

Under Greg’s management, the Carrollton Applebee’s remained in the Top 5 in the market. When he left to join the Newnan O’Charley’s last September, he received Kitchen Manager of the Quarter within his first few months. However, when he saw the UWG job posting, he felt he could not let the opportunity pass him by.

“Working at UWG is like working with family,” Greg concluded. “I am looking forward to serving our students and taking part in their success here at West Georgia.”

Greg lives in Carrollton with his wife Amy Lavender ’05 and their one-year-old son, Kaylor.
