My Career in Criminal Justice

Going West was the Right FitAs the United States Manager of Security Operations for a large international company, my job for the last 11 years has been to keep our products and employees safe.

Sometimes it’s simple: I work with local police using GPS to track down a load of missing product; or maybe it’s funny, such as when thieves stole a container (not knowing what it was) only to discover and then abandon a load of feminine hygiene products. I’ve been awakened at 1 a.m. when there was violence at a facility and caught the next flight where I helped with the investigation. No two days are alike. Read more ...

Learning and Teaching

Learning and TeachingI have unofficially been a teacher since the age of three when my parents bought me a chalkboard easel for my birthday. Every day, I would teach my dolls the alphabet. This is where my passion for teaching first began. Throughout the years, my passion has only grown stronger. I value the responsibility I have in a child’s education. I believe that every child has the ability to learn. I feel that I have the skills to reach children on their level and promote their learning success.

To achieve this dream, I looked no further than the education program at the University of West Georgia in Newnan. After participating in Teacher Pipeline throughout my high school career and working in the Coweta County School System, I simply could not pass up the opportunity to be a part of the Newnan campus. Going West was the Right Fit

Going West was the Right FitI started college in the fall of 2000 at the University of West Georgia. I grew up in Newnan, Georgia and frequented the UWG campus from time to time throughout the years. I knew from a young age that my passion was in business and the University of West Georgia enhanced that passion.

The education I received at the University of West Georgia has allowed me to work and excel in an array of financial roles at companies including Kimberly-Clark, MWV and Novelis – industry giants. I’ve lived and experienced business on a global scale. My MBA opened the door to new opportunities to support a global capital agenda at Novelis and restructure public debt for the betterment of my community while serving as the CFO of the Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority.
