“At UWG, one of our top priorities is forming mutually beneficial strategic partnerships that provide students with new opportunities and expanded access,” says Dr. Marrero. “This articulation agreement represents a true commitment to student success on the part of both institutions, and we're proud to be a part of it.”

Daniel wholehearted agreed with his UWG counterpart and said that together they will accomplish great things.

“This is a truly valuable and important agreement for our students,” explains Steve. “It also exemplifies the partnership that we have with the university to make education in Georgia more seamless and to cooperate in building educational and economic opportunity for West Georgia as a region.”

According to the agreement, any WGTC student who completes the Associate of Science in general business will be able to transfer to UWG. Eligible students must be in good standing at WGTC and meet the appropriate admissions requirements to attend UWG. Once admitted, up to 60 hours of pre-determined courses earned at WGTC with a grade of C or above will automatically transfer toward UWG’s bachelor’s degree in business administration.

The transfer articulation agreement aligns with the Complete College Georgia Initiative’s goal of improving retention, progression and graduation among Georgia college students.

“We feel strongly that this new effort will further our efforts toward the goal of Complete College Georgia to increase significantly the number of Georgians with a post-secondary degree,” shares Dr. Crafton. “We are very proud to work with our partner institution West Georgia Technical College in order to help the students in our area gain greater access to a higher education in general and a bachelor's degree in business in particular.”

“This agreement is a win for our students and our communities,” says Pat. “We appreciate the relationship we have with UWG and will continue to pursue other opportunities for our students to leverage the knowledge and skills gained at West Georgia Technical College.”

At least one administrative or faculty member will be appointed from each institution to act as a primary point of contact and agent for this agreement. This person will speak for their institution and communicate details and modifications to respective faculty, advisors and others with interest at the individual institutions.

“The Richards College of Business is excited to provide students from West Georgia Technical College the opportunity to continue their education at UWG,” concludes Dr. Faye McIntyre, dean of the Richards College of Business and Sewell Chair of Private Enterprise. “The associate’s degree at WGTC will provide the base of knowledge that should ensure success at the bachelor’s level, and partnerships such as this help build synergy between our institutions that will benefit our students and the state of Georgia.”
