RCOB Presents the McCalman Executive Roundtable

by Hilary Sigler

RCOB Presents the McCalman Executive Roundtable It was a night of communication and collaboration as the Richards College of Business at the University of West Georgia presented the McCalman Roundtable 6 p.m. April 8. UWG students and faculty members gathered in the Executive Dining Room of the Z-6 to meet and dine with distinguished leaders in business and participate in an open roundtable business discussion.

Select UWG student leaders from the Richards College of Business were invited to attend the executive roundtable event. During the event, the students are given the opportunity to dine with UWG faculty members and business professionals. After dinner, the UWG students, faculty and business professionals were evenly distributed at the dinner tables while keynote speaker Ed Baker discussed “Top Tips For Success.” Baker has been the publisher of Atlanta Business Chronicle and chief strategic officer of Atlanta City Business Journals, among many more achievements.

“In order to have a successful business and employees that have good morale, we must maintain a good relationship,” said Baker. “My employees understand that they can communicate with me, and I to them. Part of the secret sauce of success is to be open and honest with yourself and those with whom you work.”

The McCalman Executive Roundtable is a tradition at UWG. It began with Meryl and Hardy McCalman to enhance the personal and professional growth of business students. The roundtable discussion is designed to allow business students to express their ideas and thoughts about business-related topics. Each year, a different keynote speaker is chosen to speak at the event and involve the attendees in an open discussion based on topics that are related to the speech. This gives all members the chance to work as a group to create a collaborated business strategy to the prompted questions.
