by Tiffany Robinson

Alum Chosen for 2013 Georgia Trend 40 Under 40 Dan Peeples, a UWG alumnus, was selected by the Georgia Trend editorial staff to be recognized as an outstanding Georgian for 2013 40 Under 40. As one of the 40 honorees, Dan, 35, holds many prominent positions such as mayor of the city of Varnell, president of Peeples Monument Services and vice president of Julian Peeples Funeral Home.

“I am so honored to be chosen as one of this year’s ‘Top 40 Under 40,’” Dan says. “I truly believe that the leadership roles that I have in my community were first started while being a Chi Phi at the University of West Georgia. I have enjoyed being the mayor of my town for the past 5 years, along with being on the board of directors for several community organizations.”

Dan has served as mayor of Varnell, Georgia, which was voted in 2010 as the best small town to live and raise a family in Georgia by Bloomberg and BusinessWeek.com. He is happily married to Katie Kinnamon Peeples. Despite his business achievements, Dan says one of his greatest accomplishments is the marriage enrichment class he and his wife started two years ago at Salem Baptist Church in Dalton. The program has continuously increased in enrollment throughout the years.

“I am even more excited to see what God has planned for my future,” Dan says.
