On November 13, I, along with Dr. Marrero and others from the Division of University Advancement, had the distinct pleasure of inducting 14 students into a new elite student organization known as the Blue Coats. This group of ambassadors will help us bridge the gap between students and our alumni and friends of the university. As you attend events sponsored by areas of our division – the UWG Foundation, or the Alumni Association and its networks – you will likely meet some of these students and hear first-hand their very impactful stories about what UWG means to them.
These students were selected through a rigorous process. They attended a social to determine how they are in one-on-one conversations and situations as well as individual interviews with the selection committee. We were certainly impressed with their selfless motives, humility, dedication, and servant leadership. Additionally, all 14 members of this diverse group are passionate about UWG and what it has provided to them. Some have additional incentives to illustrate their pride, such as being legacies or having received a scholarship funded through your generous gifts. Their stories have been made possible by you and they cannot wait to say “thank you” in person at a future event!
